Policies & Disclaimer
The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) issued new rules that went into effect on December 1, 2009. These rules state that product reviewers on blogs must disclose whether they received review products for free or received monetary payment for such reviews.
The books I review on this site come from several
sources. Some are Advance Review Copies (ARCs) sent by publishers, a common practice in the industry, or from the authors themselves. A few are won in contests that I participate in online.
I never accept payment in exchange for a review or book promotion.
I try very hard to give only positive reviews. If I come across a book that just "doesn't do it for me", I will try to find something positive to write about it; such as who might enjoy it, who it might appeal to. My method of rating a book is 1 - 5 stars. 1 being don't bother with this one, to 5 being absolutely awesome, a keeper!
Also, if the book is suitable for a certain age, I will put that in my review also.
In order for me to review a book I will need a minimum of 2 weeks for a "regular" size book. Longer books will naturally take longer. Before I agree to read and review a book, whoever is supplying the book and I will need to find a date for the review to be posted. If we can't find a good date for both of us, I will pass on the book. That seems only fair because I want to have the time to read the book and give an honest review.
